Karla
Clayton Pollock -
Theatre
- Ms.
Pollock taught Theatre Arts in San
Antonio for
twenty-eight years; the first six years for North Side ISD, and the
last
twenty-two for Alamo Heights ISD. Ms. Pollock is listed in the 1992 and
1998
editions of WHO’S WHO AMONG AMERICA
‘S TEACHERS. In the 1970’s and early 80’s, she performed in numerous
productions on San Antonio stages and appeared in local television
commercials.
Ms. Pollock credits her teaching strengths to several incredibly gifted
professors: Lynn Murray (theatre history, stage lighting and children’s
theatre), Ray Keith Pond (acting), Maureen Mcintyre (acting), John Dent
(costuming), I.J. South (set design and construction) and Charles
Schmidt
(directing, script writing and stage makeup). Even after her 2006
retirement
from the public education system, her love for all forms of the fine
arts and
her dedication to teaching continue to define her life: ‘1 take great
pride in
my ability to inspire students to become actively and enthusiastically
involved
in the learning process and achieve beyond their own expectations.

Helen
Browning Rodriguez - Voice - Actress and operatic
vocalist,
Helen was invited in 1994 by the Consulate of Mexico to perform for the
Diez v
Sies celebration for an audience of 1,500 at San Antonio’s Municipal
Auditorium. In 1997,
she was selected to perform for the Governor of Oaxaca. Mexico. Helen
received her certification in KINDERMUSIK instruction in 2001 and has
conducted
classes at San Antonio’s First Presbyterian
Church and Alamo Heights Methodist Church. She is currently
studying opera at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Born artist,
Helen is committed to academic
and experiential development opportunities for future generations of
budding
young performing artists: It is vital to provide for our children a
legacy of
rich avenues for exploration of the fine arts. Theatre education offers
each
student the delightful opportunity to discover inner powers, and iris
through self-discovery that one acquires a greater capacity to
understand and
appreciate others.”
